Turning to music as a therapeutic, creative release, she started writing songs and performing solo in Melbourne before uniting with local musicians Paul Bender (bass), Simon Mavin (keyboards) and Perrin Moss (drums) in 2011. ![]() But when her mother died from breast cancer and her father later in a house fire, she found herself as an orphan at just eleven years old and subsequently grew up in a series of foster homes. Frontwoman and chief songwriter Nai Palm grew up in a chaotic but artistic household listening to her free-spirited mother's Stevie Wonder, flamenco and West African records while singing and dancing along to Spice Girls hits.
